Daily traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, counted from ship AIS positions by IMF PortWatch. Through 2025 between about 45 and 115 ships passed each day on a 7-day average, most of them tankers. After the strait was closed on 28 February 2026 the count fell to a handful a day. It rose briefly in April and again from late June to early July, then dropped back. On 18 October PortWatch counted 4 ships.
