One spring-tide day in the Strait of Gibraltar. Over the Camarinal Sill and through the Tarifa narrows the surface current swings with the tide, peaking at about 2 kn into the Mediterranean and briefly turning back towards the Atlantic around midnight and midday. Between Gibraltar and Ceuta the Atlantic water keeps running into the Mediterranean all day. Bright areas are measured by HF radar; the muted areas around them are filled in by the Copernicus IBI model.
