Storm Ciarán, the Channel surge

English Channel and southern North Sea · 1 to 3 November 2023 · Model

Storm Ciarán on 1 to 3 November 2023, one of the deepest autumn storms on record over the Channel. Gales pushed water up the English Channel and into the southern North Sea. The map shows the surge, the water level above or below the predicted tide, averaged over a tidal cycle, and the charts follow it at the gauges from Cherbourg to Hoek van Holland.
