Swell across the Pacific, 30 September to 13 October 2026. Storms in the Southern Ocean raise swell of up to 10 m, as on 2 October south of the Pacific. The swell outruns the storm that made it and spreads north across the whole ocean, reaching coasts thousands of miles away days later. Colour shows the height of the main swell system, the streaks the direction it travels.
