The Oosterschelde in 24 hours: tidal currents from the storm surge barrier to Tholen

The Oosterschelde, Zeeland · 1 November 2026 · Model

24 hours of tidal current in the Oosterschelde on 1 November 2026, from the Oosterscheldekering to Bruinisse, Tholen and Yerseke. Twice a day the tide pushes in through the openings of the storm surge barrier, splits into the Roompot and the Hammen, runs past the Zeelandbrug and up the Keeten towards Bruinisse and Tholen, then turns and pours out again. In the strongest spots the current reaches about 3.5 knots. The grey areas are tidal flats that fall dry at low water and flood again. The tidal range at Roompot that day was about 2.8 m. Made at the request of a viewer, for everyone who sails here: watch where the stream runs hard, where it turns first, and how it behaves around the barrier and the bridge.
