Every ship in the Kiel Canal on 3 and 4 November 2026, drawn as a line. Time runs from left to right, and the distance along the canal runs from Brunsbüttel on the Elbe at the bottom to Kiel-Holtenau on the Baltic at the top. Rising lines are ships heading east, falling lines ships heading west. Where a line goes flat, the ship is waiting, usually in a passing place for an oncoming large ship, because the big ships cannot pass each other everywhere along the 98.6 km. A full transit took about seven and a half hours.
