The only current that flows all the way round the planet. Driven by the westerly winds and blocked by no continent, it carries more water than any other ocean current eastward around Antarctica and links the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans. It squeezes through the Drake Passage and breaks into eddies along the way.
