24 hours of ships at the Wandelaar and off Vlissingen (AIS)

The Wandelaar and the Vlissingen roads · 31 October to 1 November 2026 · AIS

A full day of ship traffic at the two pilot stations of the Scheldt approaches: the Wandelaar, off the Belgian coast, where sea pilots board ships bound for Zeebrugge, Antwerp and Ghent, and the Vlissingen roads, where river pilots take over. AIS received from 31 October to 1 November 2026. Every ship is drawn to scale from its own AIS dimensions, placed by its antenna position and heading, with its track over the last 20 minutes. In 24 hours 485 ships appeared in the area, 333 of them under way: 101 cargo ships, 66 tankers, 20 tugs and 4 pilot vessels. 43 ships were over 200 m and 10 over 300 m; the largest, CMA CGM Notre Dame, is 400 m. The data comes from volunteer receivers on shore, so far out at sea a ship sometimes drops out of view for a while.
