A full day of ship traffic in the approaches to Rotterdam, from the Eurogeul and the Maas Center pilot boarding area to the Maasmond, the Maasvlakte and Hoek van Holland. Ships bound for Rotterdam take their pilot at sea, around the Maas Center buoy; the pilot boats are ringed in yellow, and you can watch them run out from Hoek van Holland and the pilot station to each incoming ship and back. AIS received from 1 to 2 November 2026, 24 hours in 4 minutes. Every ship is drawn to scale from its own AIS dimensions, placed by antenna position and heading, with its track over the last 20 minutes. In 24 hours 609 ships appeared in the area, 509 of them under way. 32 were over 200 m and 6 over 300 m; the largest were COSCO Shipping Aries at 400 m and Munich Maersk at 399 m. The data comes from volunteer receivers on shore, so far out at sea a ship sometimes drops out of view for a while.
